Vancouver Park Board unveils 'Barge Chilling Beach' sign at English Bay (PHOTOS)

The Park Board calls the sign Vancouver's own "little holiday gift"

A full month after its arrival, the English Bay barge has received its very own Vancouver Park Board sign.

Judging by an English Bay live steam, the "Barge Chilling Beach" sign was erected by Vancouver Park Board staff the morning of Wednesday, Dec. 15. The date marks a significant anniversary for the beached wood chip barge as it was 30 days ago today a severe wind and rainstorm caused it to break loose from its moorings and wash ashore.

A photo of the sign was shared by the Park Board on social media along with a holiday message for the city.

"Our little holiday gift to you, Vancouver. No matter what storms life may send our way, we’ll always be here for you. Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday and a prosperous 2022!" the Park Board's statement reads.

The barge's own social media presence @EnglishBayBarge shared an image of the sign declaring "Victory."
