For example, a flight that departs Vancouver on Monday, April 15, and returns from Sydney on Tuesday, April 30 costs $1,385 with Air New Zealand. This price is about $1,335 cheaper than usual.

While a ticket under $1,500 might be a great deal for travellers headed to the other side of the globe, buying two tickets — with one heading to Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) — allows them to save significantly more.
A flight from Vancouver that departs on Friday, April 5, and returns from Honolulu on Wednesday, April 24 costs $410. A second ticket with a flight that departs Honolulu on Saturday, April 6, and returns from Sydney on Saturday, April 20 costs $482.
The price for the trip with both tickets works out to $892 ($410 + $482). This itinerary would include a one-night stay in Honolulu before heading to Sydney and then four nights in Honolulu on the way back before heading back to Vancouver. It also includes a couple of weeks to enjoy Australia.
