Metro Vancouver gas prices surged. Here's where to find the 10 cheapest options

Find out where the best spots to fill up are.

Metro Vancouver gas prices have climbed steadily over the past week and may increase significantly over the weekend.

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, told V.I.A. that he can't provide predictions on the "micro-timing of gas price increases in Canada." However, he added that costs should start to climb at this time.

"Broadly, we believe that gas prices are beginning their seasonal rise as refinery maintenance and the transition to summer gasoline come into play," he noted.

Refinery maintenance typically happens during "shoulder seasons" and can slow down production.

Some outlets showed prices as high as 188.9 on Friday (Feb. 23) morning.

Where to find cheap Metro Vancouver gas

Perhaps shockingly, the cheapest place to get gas in the Lower Mainland is located in Vancouver Proper.

As of 3:15 p.m. on Friday (Feb. 23), you can fill up your tank for 167.9 cents per litre at the Co-op in Vancouver at 16788-104 Ave., which is several cents below the next best option.

The Cancos in Surrey and Aldergrove are the second-best choices, with gas costing 174.9 cents per litre. After that, a Chevron in Aldergrove is selling gas for 175.9 cents per litre.

Vancouverites can also fill up their tanks at a Shell on West 10th for 176.9 cents per litre or a Mobil and Superstore on southeast Marine Drive for 178.9 cents per litre.
