Deadman Island will be the site of some training this weekend that may cause noise to be heard in the area.

Those walking the seawall in Stanley Park this weekend may hear some loud noises.

But the park board is giving a "community heads-up" that it's just training at Deadman Island.

The island is home to HMCS Discovery, a naval base (specifically a stone frigate) used by the Canadian military. Normally, a quiet island, it's still an active military site. Notably, it played a big role during the 2010 Olympics, and may be used for similar tasks in the future.

On Saturday, May 31, it'll be used for training exercises. The park board notes that while there won't be any live ammunition involved in the exercises, "some noise" is to be expected by those in the busy area.
