Man dead after stabbing at Abbotsford residence

Police surround a residence in Abbotsford after a man was fatally stabbed on Sept. 1 2022.

A man is dead after a stabbing in Abbotsford on Thursday and police are trying to piece together what happened. 

Just before 6 p.m. on Sept. 1, police officers surrounded the area of McCallum Road for a report of a stabbing at a residence. 

Once on scene, Abbotsford Police found a man suffering life-threatening injuries. He was transported to the hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.

Police say a 46-year-old man was arrested at the scene. 

"We are in the preliminary stages of this investigation, with investigators attempting to establish a motive and to determine if the suspect and victim knew each other,” says Sgt. Paul Walker. 

The man arrested remains in police custody.

Northbound traffic on McCallum Road from Marshall Road to Rainbow Avenue will remain closed with no estimated time of reopening.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is taking over the investigation.

No further details about the man who died are being released at this time.
