Homicide investigators are releasing the identity of a man who was shot multiple times and died in Surrey.

On Aug. 27, just before 11 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a shooting outside a home in the 16600-block 19 Avenue.

When officers arrived they found a 37-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He later succumbed to his injuries.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has identified the man as Troy Michael Regnier.

Sgt. Timothy Pierotti is urging anyone who knew Regnier to speak with police and hopes releasing his name will further the investigation.

“Investigators continue to work to determine the motive. This is believed to be an isolated incident and does not appear to be related to the Lower Mainland gang conflict,” says Pierotti.

Three suspects were arrested at the scene, and Surrey RCMP believe they knew the victim. No charges have been laid.

IHIT has taken over the investigation and is working with Surrey RCMP, BC Coroners Service and the Integrated Forensic Identification Section.

In 2020, Regnier was wanted Canada-wide for breach of conditions, including assault with a weapon, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, mischief under $5,000, driving while prohibited and driving while suspended.

Anyone who was travelling in the 16600 block of 19 Avenue between 9 p.m. and 12 a.m. on Saturday and has dash camera footage is asked to contact IHIT at 1-877-551-4448 or by email at [email protected]
