Health alert: Turkeys recalled across Canada ahead of Thanksgiving

Here's what you should do if you bought a turkey.

A recall of turkeys in four Canadian provinces was issued ahead of Thanksgiving. 

Health Canada warns that Sunrise Farms' young turkey with giblets has been recalled from the marketplace due to microbial contamination from spoilage.

A recall notification was posted Saturday, Oct. 7, stating that the turkeys were distributed to B.C., Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan, and have a best before date of Oct. 11. 

The recalled turkeys have been sold in Sobeys stores including Safeway, Thrify Foods, IGA, Foodland, and Fresh Co. 

What you should do

If you have a recalled turkey(s), return it to a Sobeys store near you for a full refund.
