Driver in fatal Abbotsford hit-and-run urged to turn themselves in

A 38-year-old man is dead after the hit-and-run.

Investigators are looking for dash camera footage and witnesses to a fatal hit-and-run in Abbotsford this weekend.

Police were called to the 3600-block Lefeuvre Road just after midnight on Dec. 11 by paramedics after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.

According to emergency service workers, the 38-year-old man had been struck by a red Dodge Ram pickup truck and died at the scene. His vehicle, which was parked on the roadside, sustained damage from the pickup truck.

The driver of the pickup truck fled the scene before police arrived. The pickup was found crashed a short distance away.

“We encourage the driver of the suspect vehicle to come forward to police and speak to investigators,” says Sgt. Paul Walker.

This investigation has been transferred to the Abbotsford Police Department’s major crime unit.

Investigators would like to speak to anyone who witnessed what happened.

Police are also appealing to the public for dash camera footage; specifically, drivers travelling between 11:45 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. along Lefeuvre Road from Fraser Highway to Downes Road and along Downes Road from 272nd Street to Bradner Road.
