The Abbotsford International Airshow starts on Aug. 8, 2025, and continues through the weekend, offering a fun thing to do for Vancouver residents.

See numerous high-flying performers put on dazzling aerial displays at the Abbotsford International Airshow this weekend.

The Fraser Valley airport will host a "world-class lineup of aerial performers," featuring the popular Canadian Snowbirds, who performed at the Celebration of Light. The Canadian Forces Snowbirds are also known as the 431 Air Demonstration Squadron, and will perform a breathtaking "aerial ballet" with intricate formations, high-speed passes, and "the iconic nine-plane Big Diamond formation, the breathtaking Double-Take crossover, and the heart-stopping Split S manoeuvre."

The Canadian Armed Forces will perform several other acts, including the RCAF CF-18 Hornet Tactical Demonstration, which showcases the Canadian-built McDonnell Douglas CF-18 fighter's "exceptional capabilities." It is a "versatile, twin-engine, multi-role combat aircraft critical to Canada’s and its allies’ defence," and the pilots demonstrate its "impressive manoeuvrability, power, and speed."

The Canadian Forces Skyhawks have amassed fans globally with their intricate flight patterns, skill, and teamwork. Established in 1971, they have performed at a whopping 4,200 shows in countries such as Japan, France, and Australia. They also performed at a Rolling Stones concert in 2003 and at the Juno Beach Centre opening celebrations in Normandy for the 60th anniversary of the Liberation of Holland.

Another one to watch for is the C-17 Globemaster III, described as "one of the world’s most versatile and powerful cargo aircraft." The four-engine plane can carry up to 170,900 pounds of cargo and transport troops, equipment, and supplies anywhere in the world. Unlike other cargo planes, it can "land on short, unprepared runways, making it ideal for military operations."

The KC-46 Pegasus Demo Team uses advanced technology for the air refuelling process, "allowing for more efficient and flexible operations across the globe." The team will showcase the aircraft’s capabilities with impressive aerial displays, including how it seamlessly extends its boom and "delivers fuel mid-flight, while maintaining a steady flight path in often challenging conditions."
