A teen was stabbed to death in a Surrey school parking lot Tuesday, according to RCMP.

The Surrey detachment says officers were called to the 12600-block 66 Avenue — the location of Tamanawis Secondary School — at 12:08 p.m.

“Police arrived within minutes and immediately began life-saving measures,” wrote a spokesperson in a press release.

“The 18-year-old victim was transported to hospital, however despite all attempts to revive the individual he has succumbed to his injuries.”

RCMP have arrested “one possible suspect” who remains in custody. The spokesperson said RCMP officers have cordoned off the scene of the crime as they work with investigators from the Lower Mainland’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).

As police continue to gather evidence they are asking anyone with information regarding this investigation to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
