It's time for Richmondites to get their buckets and coolers ready because the deliciously sweet spot prawns are back next week.
According to the Steveston Harbour Authority, dock sales will start next Tuesday, May 16, and vendors including Steveston Spot Prawns & Seafood and Prawns on the Spot have started accepting pre-orders.
Spot prawn season lasts for around a month between May and June. In previous years, Steveston's Fisherman's Wharf has seen visitors from near and far lining up at dawn for a taste of the delicate yet firm crustacean.
Last year, Richmond hosted its first-ever Steveston Spot Prawn and Seafood Celebration to highlight local fisher families and showcase Steveston's fishing history.
The celebration will be returning this year with dining promotions, culinary stages and other activities. The Dine About promotion period will take place from June 1 to 18 and more details will follow.
