Metro Vancouver filming locations: Movies and TV shows filming in August

Metro Vancouver filming locations in August 2025 include parts of the city of Vancouver, Surrey, Langley, and Richmond.

Filming continues across Metro Vancouver on several movies and TV series through the summer and into the fall. A few productions will also continue into the new year. 

From a thriller with a "samurai twist" to a show about an ex-convict determined to extinguish massive fires, a show about Sherlock Holmes' sidekick, to a film about a woman who grieves through leaving voicemails, there is a wide range of productions shooting in various locations. 

Have a look at what is filming or is about to film across Metro Vancouver, according to Creative BC and ACFC West, Local 2020 Unifor, a B.C. technical film union.

Karoshi

Directed by Takashi Doscher, the film Karoshi is described as a "corporate thriller with a samurai twist" starring Teo Yoo (Past Lives), according to Deadline.

Filming commenced in June and should continue through roughly Aug. 6. 

The production has included filming locations across Metro Vancouver, including a shoot in Gastown in mid-June that included picture cars simulating a "busy street." Two scenes involved intermittent traffic control, and the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) was on site to assist. 

Fire Country 

Fire Country is a TV series about a young ex convict who seeks redemption by joining an "unconventional prison release firefighting program in Northern California, where he and other inmates are partnered with elite firefighters to extinguish massive, unpredictable wildfires," according to Imdb.com.

The popular show is filmed in several locations across the Lower Mainland, and Cloverdale Business Improvement Association Executive Director Paul Orazietti has several images and videos from shoots in Surrey.   

Filming for the fourth season commenced this month and will continue through March 2026. 

Private Eyes West Coast 

Locals who make a trip over to the island can check out filming for a new ten-episode spinoff series about private investigators. 

Filming has commenced for a new TV series called Private Eyes West Coast commenced on June 5 on Vancouver Island. The series picks up from the success of its predecessor, the original Private Eyes, which ran for five seasons on Global and won the CSA Golden Screen Award.

Canadian stars Jason Priestley and Cindy Sampson star as Matt Shade and Angie Everett, "navigating a fresh set of mysteries," according to a news release.

New PI Productions (BC) Inc. is slated to continue filming the series through Sept. 5. 

Watson 

Watson is a new CBS medical series that follows the affairs of Sherlock Holmes' famous companion. 

According to Variety, the show takes place a year after the death of Holmes by his arch-nemesis Moriarty, as Watson continues to treat patients for rare disorders.

Scenes for Watson were filmed in Yaletown's Emery Barnes Park in August 2024, and included picture lighting and atmospheric smoke.

First Cut Productions Inc. also filmed scenes for the show in October 2024 in the Oxford Buildings and on the crosswalk by the Guinness Tower. 

Filming for the show's second season got underway in June and will continue through the end of November. 

Pathetic Fallacy 

Filming for Pathetic Fallacy kicked off in early June and is slated to continue through Aug. 5.  

One of the scenes for the movie was filmed in Emery Barnes Park. It included a couple sharing a smooch on a park bench. 

The feature film is produced by Prairie Dog Films Inc., a 100 per cent Indigenous-owned company based in Calgary. More information about the plot of the film is unavailable online. 

Voicemails for Isabelle

The feature film Voicemails for Isabelle stars Zoey Deutch and Nick Robinson and is directed by Leah Mckendrick. 

Deutch plays a young woman coping with her sister's death by leaving numerous voicemails on her sister's phone that chronicle her life in San Francisco. The phone number gets reassigned, and a real estate agent starts receiving all the juicy messages, according to Deadline. 

Filming locations include one on Commercial Drive at the restaurant Havana on Tuesday, July 29. 

Highlands Productions, ULC, kicked off filming on July 10 and will continue through Aug. 26. 

When Calls the Heart 

The 13th season of the Hallmark Channel's series When Calls the Heart is currently filming scenes across the Lower Mainland. 

The show stars Erin Krakow and Kevin McGarry and is inspired by Janette Oke’s bestseller about the Canadian West. Krakow stars as a single mother living in the small town of Hope Valley adjusting to big changes in her life, according to Hallmark.

WCTH 13 Productions Inc. commenced filming on July 1 and will continue through Oct. 23.

Allegiance 

The police drama Allegiance is set in Surrey and stars Supinder Wraich (Sort Of) as Sabrina Sohal and Enrico Colantoni (English Teacher) as Vince Brambilla, according to the CBC.

The show offers a departure from traditional crime drama narratives, using a nuanced perspective "by focusing on identity and belonging, policing and politics, and finding truth within the heart of a flawed justice system."

Scott Road Productions (S3) Inc. commenced filming on July 28 and is slated to wrap on Nov. 6. 

Wild Cards

The TV series Wild Cards is filmed in the Metro Vancouver region and stars Vanessa Morgan and Giacomo Gianniotti as "a spirited con woman" and a "demoted detective." The pair are offered an opportunity to redeem themselves, but they have to learn to work together to solve crimes, according to CBC. 

S3 Productions BC Inc. commenced filming for the third and fourth seasons on July 28 and will continue through March 13, 2026.

The Best is Yet to Come

The film The Best is Yet to Come follows two friends, played by Matthew Broderick and Alan Ruck, on a bucket-list road trip after a huge misunderstanding as they try to "repair family relationships and embrace life" at the same time, according to IMDb's website.

Writer Allan Loeb adapted the script from the 2019 French movie of the same name, Le Meilleur Reste à Venir.

Purple Productions CAN Inc. will commence filming on Aug. 8 and continue through Sept. 19.

Winthrop

Winthrop stars Carla Gugino and Lou Taylor Pucci and is based on a cult podcast called Knifepoint Horror.

The horror movie is about a woman who puts her life on hold to help her cousin, "who is targeted and hunted by a powerful supernatural force," according to Deadline. 

Winthrop (Brightlight) Productions Inc. commenced filming on July 1 and will wrap in early August.
