Two more outbreaks were declared at Richmond Hospital on Sunday bringing the total to three current COVID-19 outbreaks at the facility.

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) reported Sunday outbreaks on the 6 North and 3 South medical units.

On Friday, an outbreak was declared in the 4 North Acute Care for the Elderly unit.

Because of these outbreaks, the hospital is reducing its surgeries and will prioritize urgent surgeries and day surgeries.

These three units are currently closed to new admissions and transfers and all visitations, except for end-of-life compassionate visits, are suspended until the outbreak is declared over.

VCH notes Richmond Hospital remains open for emergency and urgent care, and they are asking anyone who needs medical care to not delay seeking it “as this could exacerbate your condition.”
