The number of new COVID-19 cases in Richmond continues to drop, with just 33 reported over the past week (Feb. 5 to Feb 11), according to the latest data from the BC Centre for Disease Control.
This is a decrease of 12 from the week prior (Jan. 29 to Feb. 4), when 45 cases were reported.
Richmond’s daily cases are between one and five per 100,000 population.
In comparison, Vancouver is seeing between five and 10 per day and the North Shore-Coast Garibaldi region is reporting between 10 to 15 cases per day, per 100,000 population.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 1,897 COVID-19 cases detected in Richmond, according to the BCCDC data.
The outbreak at Minoru Residence, a long-term care facility, was also declared over this week.
Seventeen residents died as a result of the outbreak – which affected the facility for about seven weeks – according to the latest data on care home outbreaks from the Ministry of Health.
In total, 77 people at the facility were infected with the virus, including 66 residents and 11 staff.
The Minoru outbreak was declared over on Feb. 8.
