About two-thirds of all adults in Richmond have received the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the BC Centre for Disease Control.

As of June 3, 67 per cent of residents over the age of 18 have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

The BCCDC provides the data on vaccination coverage through its COVID-19 surveillance dashboard.

This puts Richmond at a similar level to the rest of the Lower Mainland, with other cities reporting vaccination coverage between 61 to 80 per cent for this age group.

In Richmond, the highest vaccination coverage is seen in Steveston, where 77 per cent of adults 18 and up have received at least one shot, followed by the  Gilmore/Shellmont/East/Hamilton area at 70 per cent.

In comparison, Richmond City Centre is reporting the lowest vaccination coverage in the city, at 63 per cent.

Meanwhile, 76 per cent of all adults 50 and older in Richmond have received at least one dose. This however is lower than most other regions in the Lower Mainland where vaccination coverage is over 80 per cent for this age group.

However, Burnaby, downtown and south Vancouver, Misson, Abbotsford and Chilliwack are reporting between 74 and 80 per cent vaccine coverage for the 50-plus age group.

At the community level in Richmond, 85 per cent of residents aged 50 and older in Steveston have received at least one dose, followed by Gilmore/Shellmont/East/Hamilton at 80 per cent. Meanwhile, Richmond City Centre is the lowest at 72 per cent.

Last month, B.C. opened up registration for vaccine appointments to children aged 12 and older.

As of June 3, 64 per cent of that age group in Richmond has received their first dose.

Across the province, 72.4 per cent of all adults and 69.6 per cent of all British Columbians aged 12 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine, as of Friday.
