Richmond’s Auto Mall was bustling with volunteers and sponsors who were taking part in the 16th annual Windows of Hope fundraiser on Wednesday evening.

Fourteen dealerships and several staff members from the Richmond News were joined by more than 270 volunteers to paint 24 holiday windows throughout the auto mall.

In return, the dealerships will make donations to the Richmond Christmas Fund, which helps low-income families celebrate the holidays.

As the Richmond Auto Mall calculates how much they have fundraised at this year’s event, they are hoping it will surpass last year’s amount of $37,000.

“Windows of Hope is the Christmas Fund’s longest-running fundraising event and our most successful,” said Ed Gavsie, president and CEO of Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives (RCRG).

“Credit goes to the incredible team at the Richmond Auto Mall Association, who organized the event year after year.”

The festive window designs will be on display until Jan. 3.
