Grand Prix of Art

Sept. 21 (from 10 a.m.) to Sept. 22 (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.)

The ninth annual Grand Prix of Art kicks off Sept. 21, with over 100 artists of all ages and skills set to participate in the creative competition in Steveston Village.

Spectators can watch the artistic race-against-the-clock, and wander among the artists as they work.

Artwork will be on display at Britannia Shipyards from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 21 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 22

Garment and fabric sale

Sept. 21 (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.)

Fantasy and historical garments, and fabrics are all up for grabs for bargain prices at this weekend’s sale, hosted by True North Performance Society of B.C. and the Historical Performance Ensemble. The sale will take place at 2131 Stirling Avenue, where True North Performance is located.

Shoreline Cleanup

Sept. 21 (9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.)

As part of the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, Richmondites can help clean up Iona Beach. Registration opens at 9:30 a.m., with the cleanup running from 10 a.m. to noon.

As parking is limited, there will be freeshuttlebuses running from Templeton Skytrain station from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
