Asian Heritage celebration to take over Lansdowne Centre this weekend

This Saturday, Richmond Chinese Community Society is hosting a festival to celerbate the diverse culture and achievements of Asians in Canada. Called the Asian Heritage Arts and Culture Festival, the event will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This Saturday, Richmond Chinese Community Society is hosting a festival to celerbate the diverse culture and achievements of Asians in Canada.

Called the Asian Heritage Arts and Culture Festival, the event will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with an opening ceremony at 12 p.m. at the mall’s food court.

“This event is to celebrate the diverse culture and achievements of Asians who play a vital role in the unique and multicultural mosaic of Canada,” said Linda Li, RCCS president in a press release.

“The focus is for Canadians to learn about the Asian Canadians in our society and the role they play in this wonderful country of ours.”

This year, events include multicultural performances such as a lion dance, Indian dances, Japanese drumming, Chinese calligraphy displays, performances from the Richmond Delta Youth Orchestra and Korean ceramic making. Community organizations will also have exhibition booths throughout the event.
