Flippers will be dusted off and tongs polished for the Nando’s International Master Griller Competition to be held in Australia in fall, where Richmond resident, Fritz Beng Tambi Tabe, will compete on behalf of Canada.

Tabe was crowned one of the two winners at the Nando’s National Master Griller Competition in August after "successfully grilling a perfect PERi-PERi flame-grilled chicken,” said a company press release.

He will compete with top grillers from 23 countries at the international competition in Australia.

Finalists will be judged not only on their grilling skills, but also on how they follow very specific standards. For example, the skin of the chicken must be crisp, with an “even, warm, golden brown colouring,” and the sauce has to be applied at the optimal level, according to the company.
