Vancouver man pleads not guilty to manslaughter in 2022 death

A man charged has pleaded not guilty in the June 2022 death of Vancouver's Scott Alan Carver.

Jeffrey Scott Van Dkye, charged with manslaughter, appeared in Vancouver Provincial Court on May 8th for an arraignment.

The 62-year-old Vancouver resident elected for a trial by a provincial court judge sitting alone.

Vancouver Police Department Officers were called to reports of an assault near East 1st Avenue and Main Street on June 2, 2022. 

Carver, 56, was found on the scene and taken to hospital, where he died.

Investigators said at the time that they believed the suspect and victim knew each other.

Van Dyke was arrested and later released on bail. A statutory publication ban covers details of that hearing.

According to court documents, he was previously in court for arraignment on April 12.

The death was the city's seventh homicide of the year.
