Suspect sought after man collecting firewood assaulted in woods near Campbell River

The suspect is described as a white, about 50- to 60-years-old and under six feet tall with a husky build, Campbell River RCMP say.

Campbell River RCMP are trying to find a man who was on an ATV when he fired a gun and assaulted a man collecting firewood in a wooded area south of Campbell River.

A 911 call just after 1 p.m. on Nov. 23 directed police to an area off York Road popular with off-road-vehicle enthusiasts.

The caller told police he was collecting firewood in the area and was confronted by man on a blue side-by-side-style all-terrain vehicle who pulled out a firearm, fired it in the victim’s direction and then assaulted him.

The suspect is described as a white, about 50- to 60-years-old and under six feet tall with a husky build.
