It was a case of road rage with ice cream on top when an encounter last week turned messy.

Oak Bay police said two drivers were on Cedar Hill Cross Road at University Drive about 1 a.m. on Sept. 18 when something happened to make them exchange obscene hand gestures.

One of them then decided to throw the remnants of his McDonald’s takeout at the other vehicle — including a sundae.

The vehicle happened to be a Tesla with an internal video system that recorded the exchange.

Police ended up issuing a 19-year-old man a violation ticket for littering, which cost him $81.
