An Abbotsford man has been arrested in connection with the death of another man July 18.

Abbotsford Police Department officers were called to an address in the 31000-block of Madiera Place after being notified of a suspicious death.

Officers discovered the body of Imtiaz Hussain, 62.

As a result of evidence obtained by investigators, a 46-year-old man was arrested and taken into custody.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took conduct of the case.

Chancal Badwal, 46, of Abbotsford, the man arrested, was charged in relation to the homicide on July 19.

"This was an isolated incident between two men known to each other," said IHIT spokesman Sgt. Timothy Pierotti. "We are asking anyone with recent contact with Mr. Hussain or Mr. Badwal to contact police immediately."

IHIT said it continues to work closely in partnership with Abbotsford police and the BC Coroners Service.

Badwal has prior convictions for assault, uttering threats, impaired driving, and breaching his conditions, provincial court records show.

He's due back in court July 21.
