SUMMERSIDE — Police in Prince Edward Island say a 22-year-old woman is to appear in court Friday on charges of impaired driving causing death.

RCMP say a single-vehicle crash in East Bideford, P.E.I., on June 27 claimed the lives of two passengers — a 22-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man, both from Prince County.

Police say another woman who was in the vehicle was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

An investigation resulted in the arrest of the 22-year-old woman on Wednesday.

She faces two counts of impaired driving by drug causing death and two counts of impaired driving with a blood-alcohol concentration of 80 milligrams per 100 millilitres of blood, causing death.

Police say she is to appear in court in Summerside, P.E.I.
