Veteran Richmond councillors join News live as election results unfold

Two veteran Richmond city councillors will join Richmond News editorial staff on a Facebook livestream as election results roll in Saturday night.

Harold Steves, who’s retiring from city council after half a century, and Linda McPhail, who is not running for re-election after three terms on city council and three terms on the board of education in Richmond, will share their perspectives as the night unfolds.

Richmondites are electing a mayor, eight city councillors and seven school trustees. There are three mayoralty candidates, incumbent Malcolm Brodie, RITE Richmond candidate John Roston and independent candidate Wei Ping Chen.

There are 27 candidates vying for the eight council seats and 15 candidates running for the board of education.

Polls close at 8 p.m. and the News will provide a Facebook Livestream with the two veteran councillors at this time.
