In this week's print edition of the Richmond News, some incorrect information was published with regard to city council candidate Andy Hobbs' profile.

Here is the correct profile, in full:

Name: Andy Hobbs

Party: Richmond United

Occupation: Vancouver Police Officer, Superintendent, Retired

Why are you running for office?

Richmond has been a wonderful place to raise our three children and we have five grandchildren growing up in Richmond. There must be opportunities for young people to live here, for seniors to thrive here and for new residents to be welcomed here.

I’ve volunteered continuously in our community since Grade 5 including coaching, search and rescue, Richmond Kigoos Swim Club and boards like Tourism Richmond and Britannia Heritage Historic Society.

Council is another form of community service. At Richmond council, there is the opportunity to influence large policy priorities such as the Official Community Plan or building a new community centre.

At a more personal level, every day, you are able to assist individuals with very specific challenges (fines, noise, access to information or key personnel). Issues, small and large, are all part of providing service to others and that is what council is all about for me.

What are your three key issues in this election?

- Community safety, including infrastructure such as dikes;

-  Attainable housing; and

- Farmland, food security, sustainability.
