World Cup party in Richmond with the Swiss and Chileans

Steveston's A Monkey Tree will have Swiss alphorn players outside its store Wednesday, while Steveston Seafood House will have a Chilean band playing on Friday

Thirty-two businesses in Steveston have adopted a nation for the World Cup of soccer and are hosting a National Day each day throughout the tournament.

The next few days sees the turn of Switzerland (A Monkey Tree) on Wednesday, June 25, Croatia (Heringers) on June 26 and Chile (Steveston Seafood House) on June 27.

* ANAF will host the party for the final two days of the World Cup Village, July 12 and 13. Tickets costing $25 are on sale at Bean and Beyond, with a grand prize of a return trip for two within B.C., courtesy of Pacific Coastal Airlines.

* Most participants have Steveston World Cup Village t-shirts for sale at $15.

* Steveston World Cup Village passports are available at most participating businesses; where children can go around each pavilion “stamping” their passports with a specially made sticker relating to that country.
