In an all-green battle, the McRoberts Strikers wore pinnies in their dominating 4-0 win over St. Pat's in the Vancouver and District AA semi-final playoffs.

The McRoberts Strikers and McMath Wildcats have booked tickets to their respective provincial boys soccer championships.

The Strikers continued their breakthrough season with a 1-0 win in penalty kicks over the Notre Dame Jugglers last Thursday to be crowned Vancouver and District champions.

A defensive struggle concluded with goalkeeper Daniel Judkowicz coming up with a couple of big stops in the penalty shootout while his teammates converted on four of their chances from the 12-yard spot. It’s been a big year for Judkowicz who earlier helped the U18 Richmond United complete an unbeaten season as Metro League, Coastal and Provincial Cup champions.

Two days earlier, McRoberts clinched its first B.C. berth in recent memory with a convincing 4-0 win over St. Pat’s. The hosts blitzed the Vancouver private school with three goals in the opening half and cruised to victory.

They will head to next week’s B.C. “AA” Championships in Burnaby (Nov. 20-22) with an unbeaten season record of 12-0-1. That includes a 9-0-1 run in to finish first in league play, then a pair of city playoff wins over MacNeill (1-0) and McNair (2-1).

Hugh Boyd was also in contention for a B.C. berth before falling 3-0 to Notre Dame in the V&D semi-finals.

Meanwhile, the McMath Wildcats are headed to the B.C. AAA Championships after reaching the district title game.

The Wildcats blanked Steveston-London 2-0 in the Richmond final then locked up a provincial spot with a 3-2 triumph over Van Tech.

McMath fell 7-0 to St. Georges in the V&D final.

The provincial “AAA” tourney also takes place in Burnaby — Nov. 23-25.
