Richmond Roadrunners capped a terrific season by battling the top teams in the province at the B.C. Lacrosse Bantam A1 Championships.

Richmond Roadrunners capped a terrific season with some individual recognition as the host team at last weekend’s Subway B.C. Lacrosse Bantam Championships.

Competing in the A1 top flight, the Roadrunners just missed out on playing for a medal after concluding round-robin play with a 2-3-0 record. The potenial podium finish came down to a tough 6-2 loss to Saanich on Saturday afternoon.

Richmond goaltender Keegan Okino was named to the tournament all-star team, while Andrew Cowan was a recipient of the Warrior Fair Play Award.

Richmond Lacrosse’s superb job hosting the event, which also included the A2, B and C Divisions, was recognized by Stacey Okino receiving the B.C. Lacrosse Association Volunteer Award.

Juan de Fuca captured the A1 provincial title with a 5-4 victory over Coquitlam in the gold medal game. Ridge Meadows defeated Saanich 5-4 for the bronze.

Other division winners included: New West (A2), Langley (B) and Victoria-Esquimalt (C).
