Letter: Be pro-active on gas pumps in Richmond

Dear Editor, I’m all for self-serve gas stations, so long as “Brad’s Law” protections are included.

Dear Editor,

I’m all for self-serve gas stations, so long as “Brad’s Law” protections are included.

The simplest way to protect the safety of those poor, minimum-wage workers is to require prepayment by credit or debit card — bill $100 up front, then refund the difference immediately after. (Brad was the gas jockey in Maple Ridge who was dragged under a gas thief’s car, to his death.)

This would reduce the threat to these low-income workers’ safety and job security. I expect WorkSafe and other regulation to cover all other safety issues.

Let’s be pro-active instead of ‘waiting for Coquitlam’ to act.
