Happy to see boxing knocked out

The Editor, Re: "Boxing coach's biggest fight is outside the ring," News, Sept. 6. I couldn't help but chuckle at the "unintended censoring" by Richmond of a proposed amateur boxing event at the oval because of seemingly prohibitive rental charges.

Actually, the sooner that boxing events of that type, especially amateur ones, are eliminated, the better off the world will be.

It has become increasingly apparent that any sport that "features" head contact offers nothing good to prospective athletes.

And boxing leads the parade in promoting head concussion! There are many other sports (e.g., wrestling) that teach youth self-defence in a troubled world where our wellbeing may be challenged.

How to go Richmond!
