A 22-year-old woman suffered multiple injuries after being struck by a car on Monday evening at the intersection of Bridgeport and No. 5 roads.
Richmond RCMP said at around 7.30 p.m., the victim was hit by a white 2010 Mercedes sedan while she was in a marked crosswalk.
The driver, who has been identified as a 17-year-old male Richmond resident, stopped and provided assistance to the pedestrian, according to police.
“I heard a loud sound and then saw a woman lying on the ground. I could see her arm bleeding,” said Jeff Jiang, a witness who was at a gas station near the incident.
“There were cracks on the windshield of the car.”
About 20 passers-by stayed at the scene to help the victim – some gave her water and some called 911, said Jiang.
The victim was identified by police as a Surrey resident and “was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries,” said Richmond RCMP.
