Wednesday morning, Theresa Visintin emerged from her plexiglass 10ft. x10ft. home just outside the entrance of the brand-new IKEA megastore after five days and walked away with a $10,000 Ikea gift certificate.
The mother of three, ages nine to 14, quipped that the Virgin Radio contest was a holiday really, very relaxing.
For me, the stay was two prizes no responsibilities such as cooking, cleaning and looking after my family and the chance to win a $10,000 gift certificate.
When asked if she was ever claustrophobic, she said, I kept the door open most of the time so it wasnt bad.
As part of her win, Visintin was the first customer to enter the store.
I let my kids run around and choose some presents, she said. But as far as the large purchases, I want to take some time to see what we really need.
By 8 a.m. when the store opened its doors to its first customers, it drew a large crowd of thousands and caused traffic line-ups.
The Swedish home supply retailers new store is an $80 million, 334,000 square foot building, right across the street from its old store, on Bridgeport Road and Sweden Way.
