Photos: Car fire in Richmond sends black smoke billowing into the air

A Chevrolet sedan was left burnt to a shell after the blaze on Sunday in the South Arm community

A large plume of black smoke filled the air in a Richmond neighbourhood on Sunday afternoon after a car burst into flames.

According to a nearby resident, Norm Conrad, firefighters and police were at the scene of the blaze near Seacote and Williams roads, close to No. 5 Road, in the South Arm community.

Conrad’s photos show what appears to be a blue Chevrolet sedan burning fiercely then sitting by the roadside burned out.

Conrad doesn’t believe anyone was injured in the fire.

Richmond RCMP told the Richmond News that it was a mechanical failure that "contributed" to the fire and was deemed not suspicious.
