A new restaurant recently opened in Richmond specializing in cuisine from one of the most important birthplaces of Cantonese food.

Shunde, a district in southern China, is famous for producing some of the best Cantonese cuisine and was sixth in the world to be named a City of Gastronomy by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Richmondites can now enjoy Shunde cuisine with the recent opening of A Bite of Shunde on Garden City Road.

Shunde cuisine is famous for using quality ingredients and preserving natural flavours in its cooking.

The new restaurant offers classic dishes including Shunde fish paste, Shunde chicken and other Cantonese-style dishes such as stir-fried chayote, prawn fritters and bullfrog stew.

It also offers double-layer milk pudding, an iconic dessert from the district made with steamed milk.
