The Family Fun Festival at Garry Point Park this weekend will not, in fact, take place on Saturday, Oct. 1.

The event a celebration of music, community, philanthropy and food is still scheduled to take place later this fall, but the organizers are still waiting for some paperwork to be completed first.

Meanwhile, the coalition of the Bavubuka Foundation and the Joining Hearts Foundation, who are behind the event, are still on the lookout for volunteers.

Anyone who would like to help out can email the organizers at joiningheartsfoundation@gmail.com.

The Bavubuka Foundation is a nonprofit charity dedicated to strengthening Ugandan communities through education and immersing youth in creative pursuits.

Spearheaded by Ugandan rapper and former Vancouverite, Silas Balabyekkubo, the organization was an inspiration for Richmondite Ella Breslaw who's trying to establish Joining Hearts, her own charity.
