In preparation for the Minoru Centre for Active Living’s opening later this year, the City of Richmond is hosting a job fair this year to fill aquatics, fitness, administration, maintenance and volunteer positions.

On Wednesday, July 18, a meet-and-greet for job seekers aged 16 and older is schedule from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the atrium of the Richmond Cultural Centre.

Specific position include fitness attendants, yoga instructors, seniors program instructors, pool maintenance workers, water safety instructors, lifeguards and customer service attendants. Volunteer opportunities are also available.

Originally, the new pool and seniors’ centre was scheduled to open in June, 2017. The year-plus-long delay is attributed to poor winter weather and a labour shortage, according to City of Richmond spokesperson Kim Decker.

After the city spent $118 million on the $178 million Richmond Olympic Oval, this is Richmond’s second-most expensive public infrastructure project in history, usurping Richmond City Hall, built in 2000 for about $40 million.
