The City of Richmond is calling residents to be a part of a new piece of public art celebrating active lifestyles and the activities available at the new Minoru Centre for Active Living.

This week, until Friday May 25, artist David Jacob Harder and his team are visiting Minoru Place Activity Centre, Minoru Aquatic Centre and Minoru Park to photograph people participating in swimming, dancing, running and more. These photographs will then be used to create silhouettes that will be used in a piece of artwork titled “Together.”

Together will represent the community and will be made of hundreds of steel silhouettes that come together to form a sculpture of two larger-than-life figures.

Harder will also host open house photo sessions in Minoru Park and hear local stories. Open houses will be hosted in the Your Minoru tent in Minoru Park on the Latrace Field plaza on Wednesday, May 23 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. or Friday, May 25 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m.
