An east-west bike route being planned by the City of Richmond recently received a funding boost from TransLink, according to director of transportation Victor Wei.

The Crosstown Neighbourhood Bikeway will connect Railway Avenue to Ash Street in east Richmond, as it meanders between Francis and Blundell roads.

TransLink is to provide $210,000, or half the funding required to upgrade paths and sidewalks along the route.

The route is expected to be completed by summer 2017, at the latest.

The city is also procuring money from TransLink to construct a bike route from No. 4 Road to the Canada Line pedestrian and bike crossing to Vancouver next year.
