Richmond’s MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. recently announced it signed a $48.5 million contract with the Government of Canada for providing ground segment systems with the capability to receive and exploit information from a global maritime and Arctic surveillance satellite, called Polar Epsilon 2 (PE2). PE2 will provide Canada’s Department of National Defence with daily maritime information over millions of square kilometers, all within minutes of imaging. Norman Hannaford, MDA’s general manager responsible for this business said in a press release, “This award confirms MDA’s role as a leading global supplier of Earth observation satellite ground infrastructure.”
