Child care for essential workers in Richmond, and across the province, will continue until the end of the summer.
The province has extended the emergency child care support for essential service workers until Aug. 31, put into place because of the COVID-19 pandemic to prioritize child care spots for these workers.
The Richmond Child Care Resource and Referral program, run by Richmond Care Richmond Gives, has been coordinating the program for children ages zero to 12.
RCRG is encouraging those who have been accessing the emergency child care to let them know if they will continue needing space in September in the event the temporary assistance ends.
The temporary relief is available to licensed child care providers who have a 2020/21 funding agreement with the province through the Child Care Operating Funding program.
Those needing child care in the summer can contact either their regular child care provider or the Richmond resource and referral program at childcare@rcrg.org.
