Richmond Roadrunners posted wins over New West and Burnaby to improve to 6-5-1 in the B.C. Junior "B" Tier 1 Lacrosse League. PoCo is in town on June 19.

The Richmond Roadrunners enter a 10-day layoff on a two-game win streak after an 11-7 road triumph over the Burnaby Lakers on Sunday night.

Josh Bourne, Mitchell Ely and Thomas Dickinson each scored twice as Richmond broke a tight game open with a six-goal second period. Jacob Lorenz, Cole Zudik, Brock Jung, Jordan Roberts and Ryan Jensen had the others. Jake Spare and Keegan Okino combined for 32 saves.

The Roadrunners also held off the New West Salmonbellies for an 12-11 home floor win last week. The visitors made things interesting by outscoring Richmond 6-2 in the final period after falling behind 10-5 through two periods.

Roberts has a big night with seven points, including five goals. Liam O’Connor and Bourne each scored twice. Jensen and Dickinson rounded out the scoring. Riku Jokela made 44 saves.

The Roadrunners now sit fifth in the 10-team B.C. Junior “B” Tier 1 Lacrosse League with a 6-5-1 record and will be back in action on June 19 when the Port Coquitlam Saints visit Minoru Arenas at 8 p.m.

Bourne is third in league scoring with 51 points. Roberts sits third in goals with 29. He already has 11 more than his entire 2018 campaign.
