The Richmond sports community has been left with a significant void after the sudden passing of Terry Kehoe.

The huge support of amateur sports in this city, especially football, died on Sunday, Jan. 6.

The Ottawa native was a big part of the Richmond Minor Football program for many years — serving a variety of roles at the executive and coaching levels. He was honoured for his efforts back in 2014 at the B.C. Lions Orange Helmet Awards which recognizes outstanding contribution to amateur football.

Kehoe also served on the Richmond Sports Council and most recently was in charge of the organization’s annual Richmond Sports Awards which honours athletic, coaching and volunteer efforts in the city. He had been working closely with the News on the nomination process for the 21st awards banquet scheduled for April.

As a husband, father and grandfather, Kehoe leaves behind his tight-knit family he often mentioned with great pride.
