The Richmond Sockeyes' annual Alumni Game on Saturday night will feature plenty of past standouts from the junior hockey team. Game time is 5:45 p.m.

It’s one of the biggest nights of the season for the Richmond Sockeyes and two points aren’t even on the line.

The junior hockey club will host its annual Alumni Game on Saturday (5:45 p.m.) at Minoru Arenas. The match-up will see the current team take on a alumni squad loaded with past stars.

The evening is a key fundraiser for the Sockeyes’ highly successful scholarship program that aids present and past players with their post-secondary education. In the last 18 years, over $330,000 has been raised.

A beer and wine garden will be in operation upstairs in the south end of the arena.

The alumni came through with a 5-3 victory a year ago.

This year’s graduates include: Goalies- Jordan Imoo and Kootney Alder. Defencemen- Alex Koch, Jordan Andrews, Keenan Webb, Mike Ball, Clayton Wright, Steve Sawada, Jordan Oye, Turner Popoff. Forwards- Kyle Nishi, Patrick Hunter, Carter Popoff, Eli Weibe, Paul Hobbs, Ray Sawada, Trevor Hamguchi, Ryan Johnson, Sean Thorsteinson, Tyler Andrews, Clayton Chessa and Dean Allison.

They will be coached by Doug Paterson, Brad Swanson and Brooke Odenvald.
