Ryan Jensen had a hat trick on Friday night, including the tying goal with less than a minute left in regulation, to lead the Richmond Roadrunners to a big overtime win over the first place Coquitlam Adanacs.

It was a statement win for the red-hot Richmond Roadrunners with the B.C. Junior “B” Tier 1 Lacrosse League playoffs just around the corner.

Zach McMinn’s second of the night with 43 seconds left in overtime lifted the Roadrunners (10-5-1) to a huge 10-9 overtime victory over the first place Adanacs (14-3-0) on Friday in Coquitlam.

It was their sixth straight win and moved them into sole possession of third place with two key home games remaining at Minoru Arenas against the fourth place Delta Islanders (10-5-0) on Wednesday (8 p.m.) and a rematch with Coquitlam July 7 (4 p.m.).

Ryan Jensen’s hat trick goal with 56 seconds left in regulation time forced the 10-minute non-sudden death overtime frame.

Jaden Bourne gave Richmond the lead with 5:44 remaining before the Adanacs answered less then a minute later — setting the stage for McMinn’s heroics.

Jensen added two assists for a five point night. Stuart Ahara, Thomas Dickinson, Jordan Roberts and Tyler Moxin also scored. Riku Jokela was outstanding in net with 52 saves as Richmond outshot the hosts 69-61.

Two nights earlier at Minoru, Brock Jung’s power play with 3:56 remaining provided the difference in a 9-8 win over Maple Ridge.

Liam O’Connor and Roberts each scored twice. Josh Bourne, Mitchell Ely, Jaden Leach and Ahara had the others. Jensen had four assists.

Jokela made 34 saves.
