Jaden Bourne earned tournament all-star honours for the Richmond Roadrunners at the Midget A2 Provincial Championships.

Richmond Roadrunners Midget A2 lacrosse team wrapped up a terrific season by competing at last month’s provincial championships in Burnaby.

The journey to the showcase tournament saw the Roadrunners win a sudden-death playoff game over Surrey after concluding Lower Mainland League play with a 9-11-2 record. After dropping a qualifying series to Ridge Meadows, Richmond was part of a three-team playoff for the final two berths into the championships. A 9-4 win over Chilliwack sealed its spot in Burnaby.

The Roadrunners opened play at provincial with a hard-fought 7-6 loss to eventual champion Mission. A 10-4 defeat to Saanich followed before they concluded round-robin play and their season with a 6-2 win over Ridge Meadows, avenging the earlier playoff series loss.

Jaden Bourne’s outstanding play earned him a spot on the tournament all-star team, while Charlie Lever received the Fair Play Award for his team.
