McNair grad Royce Sargeant delivered four big performances for the Langara Falcons but it still wasn't enough for the hosts at the CCAA National Men's Basketball Championships at the Langley Events Centre.

It wasn’t the finish Royce Sargeant was looking for but not because of the performance he delivered.

The McNair graduate earned all-star honours at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association National Men’s Basketball Championships. The host Langara Falcons went winless in the eight team event that took place at the Langley Events Centre.

The Falcons’ starting point guard had 22 points and eight assists in a 120-77 quarter-final loss to the No. 1 seed Holland Hurricanes. Sargeant then added 29 points, eight assists and five rebounds in a 98-92 setback to Nomades de Montmorency.

He closed out the championships Saturday with 28 more points and nine assists in a 114-99 loss to SAIT Trojans.

The 2014 Richmond League MVP was joined in the Langara starting line-up by former Palmer standout Antonio Jhuty. He managed 12 points against Nomades de Montmorency and SAIT.

BC champion Vancouver Island University Mariners captured the national title with a come-from-behind 85-82 win over Sheridan Bruins.
