Richmond golfer named to national team

It was a memorable week back in July at Glenn Abbey for Richmond Chris Crisologo where he earned low amateur honours and finished 45th at the PGA Tour's Canadian Open.

Chris Crisologo has received national and regional recognition for another outstanding season.

The 22-year-old standout amateur golfer from Richmond was one of six to earn Pacific Northwest Golf Association’s Player-of-the-Year honours.

He captured the South American Amateur in Argentina over an outstanding world class field then wrapped up a decorated collegiate career at Simon Fraser University where he was named named First Team All-GNAC in each of the four years.

This past summer, he was the low amateur at the PGA Tour’s Canadian Open at Glen Abbey — finishing tied for 45th. He also captured the B.C. Amateur and qualified for the U.S. Amateur. 

He was a semi-finalist for the 2018 Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award.

On Thursday, Crisologo was was named to Golf Canada’s national men’s amateur team for the second straight year, joining Brendan MacDougall (Alberta), Josh Whalen (Ontario) and Joey Savoie (Quebec).

“Golf Canada is pleased to select this outstanding group of elite athletes based on their remarkable performances this past season,” said Jeff Thompson, Golf Canada’s chief sport officer. “These squads are a product of an immersive training environment led by our head coaches alongside sport science staff, parents, the provincial high-performance programs along with member clubs. They will be fantastic representatives of Canada on the global golf stage.”
