Josh Bourne has plenty to celebrate this holiday season.
The 20-year-old forward had the biggest night of his B.C. Hockey League career Sunday, scoring four times in the Nanaimo Clippers 7-0 home ice win over the Merritt Centennials.
The Seafair Minor Hockey product completed a natural hat trick by the 14:45 mark of the second period. He added his fourth goal 1:45 into the third and also chipped in with an assist.
The Clippers assistant captain now has a career-best 19 goals in 32 games which ranks sixth in the BCHL.
Bourne joined the club midway through the 2017-18 campaign after putting up big numbers with the Chase Heat of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League. He was leading the KIJHL in scoring with 54 points in 28 games when he was signed by Clippers GM and head coach Darren Naylor.
Nanaimo currently leads the Island Division with a 23-10-1-2 record.
Bourne is a two-sport standout who also thrives on the lacrosse floor as captain with the Richmond Junior Roadrunners.
