It’s the biggest final three days of the season for the Richmond Ravens.
The girls ice hockey association is welcoming teams from throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond for its 22nd annual Ice Classic. The tournament gets underway next Firday at the Richmond Ice Centre and will wrap up on March 31.
Nine division titles will be handed out in the recreational level tournament — ranging from Midget C1 to Atom C3. There are also non-competitive Novice and Tyke Divisions.
Meanwhile, a pair of Richmond rep teams are concluding their seasons at their respective provincial championships this week.
Richmond takes a 0-2-1 record into the final day of action at the Bantam Championships in Tri-Cities. The Ravens battled Surrey to a scoreless draw and also fell in games to Kelowna (4-2) and the hosts (6-3). The girls play South Island and Prince George today.
Meanwhile, the Ravens have high hopes at the Female Midget Championships in Fort St. John after winning the Pacific Coast Amateur regular season and playoff titles.
Richmond opened play Thursday with a 7-2 win over South Island. There are four more round-robin games over the next three days, leading up to Sunday’s night’s gold medal tilt.
